NHWP Brick and Mortar Program

Because of COVID-19, the brick and mortar program has been suspended until further notice.

The NHWP has partnered with local bookstores to create a special section for our published members. Every three months, 10 authors can sign up to participate, providing their books for distribution. Authors must be a member in good standing with the NHWP and will pay $40 for ten copies (5 copies per bookstore) of one book title to participate for three months. Should your book sell out,  we will request more books to place in the store(s).

Included with the program is an Author’s Day (TBD by the bookstore).  Authors will participate in a meet and greet/book signing with refreshments. It is recommended that authors bring extra books to sell at their meet and greet-an extra 5-10 books is a good number. Sales will be split between the author and the bookstore:  60% author and 40% bookstore. This program is open to both traditionally published and self-published authors.

The current participating NH bookstores are :

Gibson’s Bookstore (Concord)

Toadstool Bookshop (Milford)

Program Guidelines and Requirements:

  • Participating authors will need to provide 10 copies of one book title.
  • Renewal: At the end of the three month period, if the NHWP author wants to participate again the author will need to complete another application and provide another $40.
  • If the NHWP author has more than one title they would like to have in bookstores, they must check with the Brick and Mortar Librarian to confirm space availability. Please know that each title is considered a space for an author. For example, if our B&M Librarian says there are only 9 authors on display for that period at a bookstore, that means there is room for either another author, or another book title of a participating author.
  • We have created a tracking system for books received, sold, and returned to avoid any confusion. Your application is part of that tracking system. Therefore, if you wish to renew a space at a bookstore, you will need to complete another application.
  • All self-published books will be required to have been edited and proofread for typos.
  • All books must have their title on the spine and covers must not be pixilated.
  • Payment: At the end of the three month period, authors will return to the Ford House at the announced times to collect any remaining books. At that time, NHWP will present an individual check to the author for any books sold.
  • The NHWP encourages authors to invite their friends, families, and fans to visit the stores and promote the Brick and Mortar program during their participation month.

To apply to this program, please fill out this form. You will need to submit a clear, non-pixilated .jpg of your cover.

(Please note, because the form asks for an upload, you will need to sign in with a gmail or google account. If you do not have a gmail or google account, email programs@nhwritersproject.org directly for other instructions).
