Mary Crow, Colorado

Mary Crow is the author of ten collections of poetry, five volumes of her own and five volumes of translations. The most recent books of her own poems are The High Cost of Living, winner of a chapbook contest, and I have Tasted the Apple. Her translations of Olga Orozco's poems, Engravings Torn From Insomnia, won a Lannan Foundation Award. Her work appears in numerous anthologies and magazines, and among her prizes are poetry fellowships from the NEA and the Colorado Council on the Arts, a Creative Writing Award from the Fulbright Commission to Yugoslavia, and Fulbright research awards to Peru, Chile, Argentina, and Venezuela. She teaches in the creative writing program at Colorado State University.

Appointment: 1996 by governor, reappointed in 2000 for four-year term
