Award for Outstanding Children's Literature
Awarded to a writer for a book of children's literature. This may be a picture book, chapter book, or book of young adult fiction or nonfiction.

Award for Outstanding Book of Fiction
Awarded to a writer for a book of fiction. This may be a novel or a collection of short stories and may be mainstream or may focus on a particular genre, such as mystery or science fiction.

The Donald M. Murray Outstanding Journalism Award
Awarded to a writer for a collection of articles, essays, or columns. Work may be published in newspapers or magazines, in print or online, and may inclde investigative journalism, news stories, feature stories, creative nonfiction, biography, travel, and other nonfiction subjects. Nominees should submit three to five pieces. This award is given in honor of Donald M. Murray, the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist who died in December 2006. A $500 cash prize is part of this award.

Outstanding Book of Poetry
Awarded to a poet for an outstanding book or chapbook of poetry. (This award replaces the Jane Kenyon Award that was endowed in memoriam to Jane Kenyon in 1996.)
