NHWP at a Glance
The New Hampshire Writers Project, a statewide nonprofit literary arts organization, serves as a resource for writers, publishers, booksellers, literary agents, educators, librarians, and readers in and near New Hampshire. We support the development of individual writers and encourage an audience for literature in New Hampshire.
NHWP is the only statewide literary organization for writers in all genres and at all levels, with more than 750 members. We offer spring and fall workshops, publish a bimonthly newsletter, online book reviews and the annual BookSampler catalog of new books by members We coordinate the annual Writers Day conference, host public readings and events, present the New Hampshire Literary Awards for outstanding literary achievement, and work cooperatively with Southern New Hampshire University on the university's low-residency MFA in creative writing program.
What members say about NHWP:
“Writers work in isolation with little or no feedback. Even when you finish and send your work out into the world, you are still often alone with no feedback. Then along comes a group like the Writers’ Project to give you a home and a community and to cheer you on.”—Richard Adams Carey, 2001 NH Literary Award winner, Outstanding Work of Nonfiction; 2006 NHWP Vice President
“I’m just getting started and thank you for being here to assist.”—New NHWP member
“It was a great day —and I’m leaving feeling energized to write!”—Writers’ Day participant
“I’m very satisfied with the services NHWP offers, particularly the opportunity to participate in a statewide community of writers.”—NHWP member
